Hyundai on Tuesday confirmed that the Ioniq 9 electric three-row SUV will debut in November.

The timing points to a debut at the 2024 Los Angeles auto show which starts on Nov. 22. Hyundai used the same event in 2021 to preview the Ioniq 9 with the Seven concept.

Hyundai in July said the Ioniq 9 will reach the U.S. as a 2025 model, though a firm date for the start of sales hasn’t been announced. Pricing information also hasn’t been announced.

The Ioniq 9 name signifies the vehicle as one of the largest from Hyundai. It also links the vehicle with the Kia EV9, whose stretched E-GMP dedicated EV platform will be common.

Teaser sketches show the Ioniq 9 will closely resemble the lines of the striking Seven concept. However, the concept sat on a wheelbase measuring a long 126 inches, and spy shots of prototypes indicate that the Ioniq 9 could be slightly shorter, perhaps close to the 122 inches of the EV9. The production model will also skip the concept’s rear-opening coach doors.

Hyundai hasn’t confirmed any powertrain specs for the Ioniq 9, but those will likely match up with the powertrains in the EV9 as well. The Kia comes with the choice of 76.1- or 99.8-kwh batteries, as well as single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups. The most efficient EV9 carries an EPA-rated range estimate of 304 miles.

A high-performance EV9 GT is in the works, and the Ioniq 9 could potentially have its own N performance option, too, though Hyundai hasn’t mentioned anything.

Genesis is also testing a large electric SUV that could be badged the GV90. The Genesis Neolun concept shown in March may preview the design of the production model expected to debut around 2026.
