The modern Jeep Wrangler still features a design that can trace its roots to the legendary Willys MB, the original Jeep launched in 1941 as a “light reconnaissance vehicle” for the U.S. Army.

Jeep is celebrating that connection with its latest 2025 Wrangler which features a Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41 special edition that takes cues from the Willys MB, while also incorporating some elements from 2022’s Jeep ’41 concept.

The most obvious connection to the Willys MB is the Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41’s olive drab paint finish. The SUV also gets 17-inch wheels painted in the same color, and wrapped with 33-inch all-terrain tires. Various decals and badges also bear the “Willys” name, with some even featuring the same blue color used for the factory stenciling mandated by the U.S. Army on Willys MBs during the Second World War.

Inside, there are tan cloth seats, more olive drab touches, and a “’41” logo on the shift knob. A model-exclusive tan-colored soft-top roof will be available, as an alternative to a body-colored hard-top and the Wrangler’s Sky One-touch powertop roof options. The vehicle is also fitted as standard with a a rear locker and steel bumpers front and rear.

Like all Wrangler 4xe models, the Willys ’41 special edition comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 2.0-liter turbo-4 with a pair of electric motors for a peak 375 hp. This in a way is also a nod to the Willys MB which also packed a 4-cylinder engine.

Following 2024’s update, changes to the Wrangler lineup for 2025 are relatively light. The list includes power locks and power windows now standard across the range, as well as the addition of an available cabin ventilation system that enables the owner to pre-ventilate the cabin using an app on their phone. The Willys ’41 special edition’s olive drab paint has also been added to the regular set of paint options.

Beyond the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain, the 2025 Wrangler is offered with a 2.0-liter turbo-4 rated at 270 hp, a 3.6-liter V-6 rated at 285 hp, and a 6.4-liter V-8 rated at 470 hp. This may be the last year for the V-8 in the Wrangler, or any Jeep for that matter. Most powertrains come with an 8-speed automatic as the only transmission, however a 6-speed manual is still offered as the only transmission for the V-6.

Order books for the 2025 Wrangler lineup are already open and the first examples are due at Jeep dealerships before the year is out. The 2025 Wrangler is priced from $33,990, while the Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41 special edition is priced from $61,825. Both figures include a $1,895 destination charge.
