Volkswagen U.K. together with CJL Leisure Vehicles has completed the construction of a one-of-a-kind T6.1 Transporter for Alan Murchison, a Michelin-star chef who works in support of the Canyon/SRAM UCI Women’s World Tour cycling team.

“In order to travel across Europe supporting professional athletes, I need a vehicle that is suitable for long-distance travel in comfort, with ample storage space to support elite athlete nutrition combined with the ability to deliver a superb double espresso,” said Murchison, in a statement. “The brilliant use of space allows for truly premium facilities that comfortably meet all my needs; it finds solutions for problems I didn’t know I had!”

The T6.1 Transporter features a 3,000-Watt inverter and two AGM batteries hooked up to a 350-Watt solar panel, to power the kitchen. It includes a top-loading fridge, a sink, and a fold-out gas stove, along with a La Marzocco Linea Mini coffee machine and grinder for that espresso he so clearly craves.

A veteran of the food industry, Murchison has spent more than 25 years of his career working in and running Michelin-starred restaurants. A passionate fan of cycling, though, he has also worked with British Cycling and is a talented amateur cyclist, so the Transporter has high standards to live up to.

Fortunately, the additions aren’t simply limited to the kitchen.

“We asked Alan for his ultimate wish-list and set about designing this into the available space offered by a LWB Transporter 6.1,” said Cye Hayes, managing director of CJL Leisure Vehicles. “Chef [Murchison]’s bespoke layout is based on the CJL ‘Adventure Competition’ conversion which also features a stealth bike store/wet room, and camper facilities including a hob, fridge, and bed.”

Finished with a Rapha cycling gear-inspired wrap, the one-off may make more than a few cyclists more than a little jealous.
