The Lamborghini Huracan STO Will Be Fondly Remembered For Decades To Come

Reviews

By all accounts, including our own, the Lamborghini Huracan STO is the finest iteration of the V10-powered supercar introduced since its initial launch back in 2014. Just how good is it? Well, this video put together by Carfection explains just that.

It was back in 2017 when Lamborghini introduced the first lightweight, hardcore variant of the Huracan, appropriately dubbed the Performante. This model benefited from less overall weight than the standard car thanks to the use of more aluminum and carbon fiber parts. In addition, it debuted the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva active aero and had a touch more power.

By all intents and purposes, the Huracan Performante was and remains an excellent supercar. With the STO, it’s obvious that Lamborghini has pushed the Huracan to new heights.

Powering the STO is a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 with 631 hp and 417 lb-ft (565 Nm) of torque, meaning it has 26 lb-ft (35 Nm) less than the Performante. That may seem like a backward step but unlike the Performante, it is rear-wheel drive and is adorned with more carbon fiber parts, meaning it sheds 95 lbs (43 kg) of weight.

As Henry Catchpole notes in his review of the car, Lamborghini has ditched the dynamic steering of other Huracan models in favor of a simpler and quicker system. The veteran journalist is hugely complimentary of the steering and notes that the car also handles bumps and inconsistencies in the road extremely well.

The sound of the V10 is also something to behold and while it has roughly 100 hp less than rivals from Ferrari and McLaren, it provides much more theater.
