Rule The Playground With This Electric Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Ride-On

Offbeat

The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept is an electrifying preview of things to come, but customers can already snag an electric Challenger SRT Hellcat if they’re willing to make a few tradeoffs.

Key among them is a top speed of 2.8 mph (4.5 km/h), which is conveniently the same figure as road-going models in Security Mode. While the latter mode can be deactivated, there’s no such setting on iRerts’ Challenger ride-on.

Available at Walmart for $209.99 (excluding shipping), the officially licensed toy is designed for kids between the ages of three and five years old. Besides featuring Challenger styling, the model has functional LED headlights, a push-button ignition, and an MP3 player that presumably sounds better than the Charger Daytona’s exhaust.

The 66 pound (30 kg) weight limit precludes adults from taking a ride, but they can still join in on the fun thanks to a seven-button remote control. It enables them to drive forward and reverse as well as make turns.

While the Challenger SRT Hellcat has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 717 hp (535 kW / 727 PS), its ride-on counterpart has a 12V battery which powers an electric motor developing a mere 0.1 hp (54 W). That setup negates any Fast & Furious antics, but kids can expect between one and two hours of playtime. Hopefully that’s enough as the battery takes 5-8 hours to fully recharge.
