Tuesday afternoon police were investigating a fatal accident scene when a completely separate crime took place. A 35-year-old man drove his Jaguar sedan into the crime scene, hit a police vehicle, nearly ran into an officer, and then fled before police caught up with him. Police footage shows the entire incident from start to arrest.
According to local news stations, police had been on the scene for roughly 90 minutes before the driver who police identified as M. Hodge inexplicably drove by. As officers shouted for him to stop he put the unregistered Jaguar XF into reverse and ultimately hit a police SUV. Then he put the car back into drive and nearly struck an officer as he fled the scene.
In the video, we can see Hodge throwing something out of the passenger side window of the car. Police would later confirm that those items were “extensive amounts” of heroin. The chase would only end when Hodge arrived at his home on Bradley Avenue. Police caught him in a common hallway of the building and arrested him there.

Waterbury Police Chief Fernando C. Spagnolo told CTInsider that Hodge has an extensive criminal history and ties to the Crips gang. He’s a convicted felon in the state of New York as well as in Connecticut with weapons charges in both states. He had been out on a $50,000 bond relating to weapons and narcotics charges in Naugatuck, CT dating back to 2020.
Hodge has now been further charged with two counts of criminal attempt at assault in the first degree, seven counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, two counts of evading responsibility, engaging police in pursuit, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, insufficient insurance, operating without a license, interfering with an officer, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
According to Fox61, he was being held with a $1 million dollar bond on the evading charges and on a separate $5,000 bond on charges relating to a previous domestic abuse case. The million-dollar bond has since been reduced to $750,000. Police have not released any information about why he drove through the crime scene, to begin with.
