Often when we see videos of Arkansas State Police involved in a pursuit they get their suspect with a pit maneuver but this time, the fleeing person took themselves out of the game. After speeding off into a heavily trafficked highway they smashed into a box truck and split their car in two. The driver’s condition is unknown.
All of the information we have comes directly from the description section of the video on YouTube. It indicates that police were well into a traffic stop when the chase began. Before that, they had confirmed that the original driver was a man who they suspected to be under the influence.
He said he was transporting his friend, a female passenger, to the hospital because she was ill. Soon thereafter, police began to search the vehicle. It was at this time that the female passenger indicated to police that there might be a firearm in the car. Right after giving the officer that information, the female jumped into the driver’s seat and sped away.

“The red Pontiac was traveling at speeds more than 100 miles per hour on the right shoulder,” says the video description. The clip shows that the Pontiac drives up the shoulder before it’s out of view for a short time. When police catch up the car is in two large pieces split between the front and back half.
While Winfert was safely in police custody at the time of the accident there’s no confirmation on the woman’s condition. The video description simply says that police found her “supine with her legs in the front passenger compartment and her head on the floor where the back seats would typically be.” It also states that she was transported to a medical facility via EMS.
