Nissan Altima Engine Flies Into House In Fatal Massachusetts Crash

The 19-year-old driver of a Nissan Altima being chased by police in Belchertown, Massachusetts has been killed in a dramatic crash that saw the car’s engine get thrown through a second-story wall of a house.

The crash occurred on Sunday evening, shortly after the unnamed driver fled from police after an attempted traffic stop. A press release published by the Massachusetts State Police says the driver ran a red light but failed to navigate a left-hand curve in the road.

After leaving the road, the Altima slammed into a mulch bed, launching it into the air before it slammed into a rock wall, a large tree, and a light post. It also hit the front end of a 2023 Jeep Wrangler parked in a nearby driveway. A 2020 Buick Envision was also damaged. The crash was so violent that the car’s engine block was flung from the Nissan and smashed through the brick wall of a property that was six houses down from where the crash occurred.

Police report that the young driver was also flung from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Mass Live states that beer cans and a fake Vermont ID were found inside the Altima. Authorities are performing an autopsy on the driver to see if he was intoxicated.

The flying engine landed in the home’s bathroom but fortunately, no one was injured. A building inspector has determined that the house is now structurally unsound and while the property owners have insurance, a friend has launched a GoFundMe page aiming to raise $20,000 to help them.

“It will take time for their insurance to assess the damage and issue payments and they pray that all of the repairs needed will be covered and that their home will not be deemed a total loss,” the GoFundMe page organizer said.
