The thieves waited for the teen to park and exit the vehicle before holding him up

One family is thankful that all they lost on a recent evening was their BMW 335D. Two armed carjackers waited for a 19-year-old to park the car and get out before approaching and holding him at gunpoint over the sedan. They made off with it and evidently damaged it but the teen avoided injury. Now, a video of the encounter has surfaced.
Posted by one of the family members on Reddit, the short clip shows the BMW back up into the driveway before the driver gets out. Just moments after closing the door and walking away two assailants run up behind him with guns drawn. The direct interaction happens off of camera but it’s clear what happened.
The first carjacker pops back into the frame and then into the BMW before driving off. The theft happened near Tacoma at around 11 p.m. at night. According to the poster, the police recovered the car which is now in evidence but “looks pretty beat up based on the pictures,” they say.

The family also believes that one of the suspects might be linked to another arrest in the area involving an 18-year-old. That individual is connected to home invasions and carjackings. Police specifically connected them to one crime because they linked their personal phone to a stolen car’s infotainment system. They’re now being held on a $1 million bond according to Komonews.
This isn’t the only recent case of this either. On the other end of the country in Connecticut, thieves carjacked a man by following him into his garage and taking his Aston Martin. In that case, police found the car before any major damage was done.
The lesson here is clear in both instances. Wherever you might be, take notice of your surroundings when parking. Should a scenario like this take place don’t be a hero, put your physical safety above things like keeping a physical possession.
