A school bus was caught on camera triggering a multi-car pile-up in Boston’s Hyde Park but fortunately, there were no school students on the bus at the time.
The incident was captured by the doorbell camera of a nearby resident. It shows the large Boston Public Schools bus hit the rear of an SUV that was parked on the side of the road. The bus then continued to move forward, pushing the SUV into another and ultimately creating a chain reaction of five vehicles, ending with a black Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Local authorities are investigating the crash and while speaking with WBZ-TV, an individual familiar with the investigation indicated that the driver of the school bus “may have experienced an acceleration malfunction.”

“We’re still making sure we’re understanding all the details and are going to, with any situation with a city vehicle, ensure that there’s a thorough investigation of all that happened,” Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said when speaking with the media about the crash.
Three people were hit in the incident, including a child, and while they were transported to a local hospital, none of them suffered serious injuries.

The crash happened near Henry Grew Elementary School and according to 6th grader Michael Ward, one of the cars involved belonged to his gym teacher. He added that many of his classmates were left distraught after the crash and were crying as the child hit was a student at the school.
