Acura RSX Gets Ditched, Driver Gets A Lesson

  • The California Highway Patrol implied that the driver of the Acura was driving under the influence.
  • The sporty coupe has been left perched on a dirt mound after spearing off the road.
  • No details have been provided by the police about what happened to the driver of the RSX.

A black Acura RSX has been badly damaged and left in an awful spot after crashing in Fresno, California, earlier this week.

Limited details about the crash are known, other than what the California Highway Patrol has reported in a social media post. It has used photos of the crash to warn people of the dangers of driving while under the influence, presumably because the driver of the RSX was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or both, at the time of the incident.

The Acura driver appears to have lost control and left the road before driving over a dirt embankment and coming to a rest. We can see the rear bumper has been torn from the car, and at least one of the taillights has been damaged. No photos of the car’s front end have been shared online, but we suspect that it, too, has seen better days.

It’s unclear what happened to the driver of the front-wheel drive hatch, as the police didn’t provide any details, but they certainly won’t be driving this RSX again anytime soon, if ever. That’s a shame as the sporty Acura has always been a fun little car, particularly in Type S and Type R guises. The airbags of the car don’t appear to have been deployed so the impact probably wasn’t too forceful.

The Acura RSX was introduced into the U.S. in mid-2001 and sold worldwide as the Honda Integra. The entry-level version was offered with Honda’s K20A3 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 160 hp. This particular RSX seems to be one of the facelifted versions that was introduced for the 2005 model year with slightly sharper headlights and taillights.
