Hoosier reveals its first street-legal tire

To date, Hoosier has made a lineup of racing tires for road courses, dirt ovals, drag racing, karting, off-roading, rallying, and even for pro street cars. None were made to be street-legal—until now.

The Hoosier TrackAttack Pro is an extreme summer performance tire that’s street-legal in the U.S. It’s available now in more than 40 sizes for 15-inch to 21-inch wheels.

Hoosier points to features such as a motorsports-derived compound, a wide shoulder rib, and a center rib optimized for the best braking performance as evidence of this tire’s track-worthiness. At the same time, it offers longer tread life than Hoosier’s R7 racing tire.

Continental bought Hoosier in 2016, but kept the brand intact in part because there was little overlap between their customer bases. Hoosier was primarily known for drag-racing tires, while Continental’s performance tires were primarily aimed at road-course use. Continental also produced, and continues to produce, a wide range of tires for applications away from the track.

The TrackAttack Pro brings the two brands a bit closer together, as it’s similar in concept to the Continental Extreme Contact Force, a summer performance tire designed with input from Hoosier. The TrackAttack Pro has an advantage in dry handling and braking, according to Hoosier, while the Extreme Contact Force has a more conservative design that offers better comfort and wet-weather handling.

Hoosier tires have been used on machines as diverse as the Honda Mean Mower V2 and 2022 Chevrolet COPO 572 Camaro, a drag car powered by a big-block V-8. Now it’s easier to put them on your car too.
