It appears that Tesla China’s new vehicle registrations reached a new high during the final week of the third quarter. During the week of September 23-29, 2024, Tesla China reportedly saw 22,600 vehicle registrations, its highest to date.
Tesla China does not report its weekly domestic sales figures, though a general idea of the company’s performance in the country’s automotive sector can be inferred through insurance registration data. Fortunately, these registrations are tracked by industry watchers and automakers such as Li Auto.
And as per industry watchers, Tesla China saw an impressive 22,600 new vehicle registrations in the week ending September 29. This was extremely impressive, as it represented a new record for the electric vehicle maker’s weekly domestic registrations. It also represented 63.77% increase over the registrations of the week ending September 22, which were listed at 13,800 units.

For context, Tesla China saw 14,400 new vehicle registrations in the week ending September 1; 16,200 registrations in the week ending September 8; 15,600 registrations in the week ending September 15; and 13,800 registrations in the week ending September 22. With these results in mind, it would appear that Tesla China saw a strong third quarter.
Li Auto has released its vehicle registration data for the week of September 30 to October 6, 2024. Based on the automaker’s report, Tesla China saw 1,800 new vehicle registrations during the week ending October 6. These results may partly be due to the Chinese National Day holiday, which was from October 1 to October 7.
In China, 1.8k Tesla insurance registrations were reported for the week of September 30 to October 6. 🇨🇳

Tesla China achieved a number of milestones in the third quarter. Apart from its record-setting end to Q3 2024, the company also announced that it had exported its 1 millionth vehicle from Giga Shanghai in late September. The milestone was highlighted by Tesla Vice President Grace Tao, who stated that Giga Shanghai-made vehicles have been delivered all over the world, from Europe to the Asia-Pacific region and to countries like Australia and New Zealand.
