A 25-year-old Australian created a chaotic scene on a Sydney street on Wednesday when he was caught on camera repeatedly crashing into a fence while driving an allegedly stolen Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The SUV had already sustained damage in an earlier crash with a Mercedes at a different location following a police pursuit that was aborted due to safety concerns.
In the footage shared on Reddit and several news stations in Australia, the red Alfa Romeo can be seen crashing on the metal fence at least two times before coming to a halt. The incident occurred on Vanessa Street in Kingsgrove. Startled onlookers attempted to approach the SUV, which was moving unpredictably, likely due to the damage to its steering and suspension systems. Another video depicts one individual successfully detaining the driver by brandishing a metal object after he emerged from the vehicle.

According to the NSW Police, the Alfa Romeo involved in the incident had been reported stolen from a residence in Pennant Hills the previous month. Officers discovered the vehicle parked on Kylie Parade Street in Punchbowl at 12 pm on Wednesday. When the officers approached the vehicle, the driver immediately fled, leading to a police pursuit. However, the pursuit was promptly terminated by the police due to safety concerns.
After escaping the police, the 25-year-old man who didn’t have a license was involved in an accident with a Mercedes-Benz on Payten Avenue at Roselands but fleed the scene in a quest to escape charges. The next incident happened on Vanessa Street in Kingsgrove where he lost control of the SUV repeatedly hitting the fence. Thankfully, the ordeal ended without any serious injuries, and the man responsible got arrested by the police. Officers found an air pistol and several stolen items in his possession as they took it into custody.
As reported by 7News, the suspect was refused bail and will be facing serious charges including stealing a vehicle, not stopping during a police pursuit, dangerous driving, possessing an unauthorized prohibited firearm and not having a driver’s license. As for the poor Stelvio, it is probably totaled while the owner of the house will definitely need a new fence. Still, material things can be easily replaced and things could end up much worse if the vehicle continued its crazy course.
