Cadillac Offering $5,000 Shoes Inspired By Their EVs

  • Cadillac is offering four sets of shoes inspired by their electric vehicles.
  • The sneakers cost $5,000 and incorporate elements of the Celestiq, Lyriq, Optiq, and Escalade IQ.
  • Only 20 pairs will be available and they’ll go up for sale on September 8.

Automakers love slapping their logo on apparel and charging big bucks for it, but would you pay $5,000 for a pair of Cadillac shoes? Probably not, but these aren’t your typical kicks.

Quite the opposite as Cadillac teamed up with designer Dominic Ciambrone and his Surgeon team. Together they developed four sets of shoes that draw inspiration from the Celestiq, Lyriq, Optiq, and Escalade IQ.

While that sounds like marketing fluff, the automaker said the “Surgeon team collaborated with Cadillac designers and artisans in-person at General Motors’ Design Center in Warren, Michigan.” This close cooperation resulted in shoes that incorporate elements of their namesake vehicle. Cadillac didn’t go into many specifics, but mentioned the same “interior leathers and upholstery patterning, textiles, and stitching techniques, as well as interior and exterior paint colors and design cues.”

The resulting designs are bright and colorful, but probably won’t appeal to everyone. However, if you’re interested, you can pick up a pair on September 8. They’ll be offered exclusively on CadillacSignature.com and only five pairs of each shoe will be available.

If you’re looking for something more exclusive, a one-off pair of sneakers will be auctioned on CharityBuzz.com. They’re “inspired by the personal story of professional tennis player and Cadillac brand ambassador, Francis Tiafoe.” Proceeds from the auction will support the Frances Tiafoe Fund, which provides academic services as well as free or low-cost tennis programming to students.

If shoes aren’t your thing, Cadillac offers an assortment of other items including an Escalade IQ jacket and a $450 cashmere sweater that is knitted in Italy. The company also sells a $50 candle that was hand poured in Detroit.
