British Columbia, Canada’s Hotel Zed is giving visitors and residents alike the chance to create the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for their partner. The chain’s Tofino location is offering its 1978 Chevrolet G20 van as a “sensual backdrop for boudoir-esque photos and throwback-style dates.”
Hotel Zed calls its new 1978 Chevrolet G20 van its “Shaggin’ Wagon” and promises that it has the “most shag carpet you’ve ever seen in a van.” Described as a love nest parked in the woods behind the hotel, the van has been staged as the perfect place to grab a bottle of wine and hang out with your beloved.
So excited is it about its new van, that on February 1, it installed Shaggin’ Wagon photo spots at all three of its locations (in Tofino, Victoria, and Kelowna, B.C.). The photo-op includes a shag carpet wall and a Shaggin’ Wagon cut-out.

Essentially designed as an Instagram trap, the hotel promises to donate $1 ($0.75 USD at current exchange rates) to Good Night Out, a not-for-profit that offers restaurants, bars, art spaces, and more workshops on sexual violence prevention, for every photo from the wall that is shared with the #zedshagginwagon hashtag.

In addition, the Canadian hotel is also offering a Valentine’s Day “Nooner” promotion at all of its locations. For $69 CAD ($51.65 USD), the hotel promises to offer guests three hours of uninterrupted fun in one of its hotel rooms.
If you find yourself needing less than all three hours in the room, the hotel is further offering an Après Nooner at its restaurant. The meal features a “very sexy platter of aphrodisiacs and Valentine’s Day themed cocktails,” though that seems like it would have been more useful pre-nooner.
“Hotel Zed’s Nooner has always been about rebelling against boring Valentine’s Day traditions and having fun,” Mandy Farmer, president and CEO of Hotel Zed and Accent Inns, said in a release. “This year’s Nooner Shaggin’ Wagon deal encourages sex-positivity, encourages others to start the conversation.”
