California police lost track of a blue Chevrolet Corvette C7 they had been chasing late on Thursday, February 22. The driver of the fleeing vehicle weaved dangerously through traffic before driving into downtown Los Angeles, possibly sneaking into an underground parking facility.
The high-speed chase started in Pomona after police say the driver failed to yield to officers. They were pulling the car over for suspected vehicle code violations, and reports indicate the vehicle, identified as a 2019 Corvette, wasn’t wearing license plates.
The driver led the police on a chase through the San Gabriel Valley on the I-210 freeway. The driver reached speeds approaching 160 mph (257 km/h), according to NBC’s live coverage of the chase, as it followed the Corvette from a helicopter.

Eventually, the Corvette transitioned to the 605 freeway, and headed towards LA. While on the highway, the car weaved through traffic, drove through gore points, and came close to hitting other, innocent drivers on the road.
Once in Los Angeles, the driver pulled off the freeway and took surface streets toward the downtown area. The tall buildings helped the driver escape the view of police helicopters, forcing patrol cars to attempt to keep track of the Corvette.
Police eventually lost sight of the car altogether, and said they believed the vehicle might have driven into an underground parking lot. So far, neither the LAPD nor the California Highway Patrol have provided followups on the vehicle’s status.
