Dodge Challenger Trying To Flee Police Smashes Into Barrier

Offbeat

The dashcam of an unsuspecting driver cruising down the highway captured the moment when a Dodge Challenger hit the crash barrier during a police chase. Thankfully there were no other vehicles involved although the car came pretty close to nearby traffic.

The incident happened on January 2, 2022, on the I-395 in Alexandria, Virginia. The driver of the Challenger was clearly speeding when he tried to take the exit to Duke Street / Little River Turnpike at the last moment. A miscalculation led them to crush the car on the barrier, after slightly avoiding colliding on a couple of other cars.

The Challenger suffered significant damage to the front end, rotating by the force of the collision and blocking the road. A few moments later a police car can be seen approaching from a distance with the flashers on. We hope there were no injuries which would be the case if the driver and any possible passengers wore their seatbelts since crash barriers are designed to absorb most of the energy.

Such careless driving on public roads is inexcusable since it puts innocent lives in danger. We don’t know why the driver was trying to get away from the police but we they will probably be facing some serious charges.
