<br /> Driverless McLaren Can’t Stop Crashing Into Maybach GLS | Carscoops

Individuals outside the supercar tried to stop it several times, but the only thing that succeeded was Maybach’s SUV

Driverless McLaren Can’t Stop Crashing Into Maybach GLS

  • McLaren repeatedly crashes into Mercedes-Maybach SUV in bizarre incident.
  • It seems as though the McLaren driver exited the car and then locked himself out.
  • Incident caused significant damage to both luxury vehicles.

Locking one’s keys inside of their own car produces a helpless feeling. Add on top of that the experience of the car being in drive and moving on its own. That is no doubt the panic-inducing set of feelings one McLaren driver felt after evidently putting himself in exactly that situation. Not only was his exotic supercar moving on its own but it was about to hit a $200,000 SUV.

It’s tough to know exactly where this video comes from in the world but wherever it is, the rain was pouring. At the very start of the video, it’s almost unclear what’s going on but then the Maybach GLS moves forward and the McLaren pops up. It turns out that from the very start of this clip, the McLaren has already hit the SUV and was semi-wedged under it.

Then, the GLS moves forward and the McLaren, seemingly in Drive, moves forward again slowly. What appears to be the owner tries to stop it with his own motive force but fails. A person with an umbrella approaches. Perhaps this all started with him trying to get out and open the door for this individual. We can’t think of another good reason to get out of the car when it’s raining like this.

In any case, the car bumps the Maybach again and then one more time before the clip cuts off. If this truly is a McLaren 600LT as some suggest, it’s likely worth around $200,000 on its own. We’ve already established the value of the Maybach so we’re looking at around $400,000 worth of cars bumping into one another.

Notably, some in the McLaren subreddit believe that this isn’t a true 600LT because those cars do not creep forward like this when in Drive. Regardless of which variant it is, this is clearly a mistake that the owner won’t soon forget.
