The 2023 Nissan Z has a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) but how fast can it actually go when pushed to its limits?
In a bid to answer that question, a crew of Japanese car testers put the Z through its paces on a slopped track. Details about the Z used in the test are unclear but it reportedly benefits from a tune, likely courtesy of GReddy based on the large stickers running along the car’s sides. It’s safe to assume that the top speed limiter has also been removed.

Onboard footage from the test shows that the driver was able to push the car through to 285 km/h or 177 mph. That wasn’t the top speed displayed on the digital instrument cluster either and was instead a GPS-verified speed.
Without knowing just how much power the tune has added to this Z, it is hard to know just how fast a bone-stock Z could go if the limiter was removed but we suspect it is probably somewhere between 160 mph (257 km/h) and 170 mph (273 km/h).
In standard guise, the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 of the 2023 Z pumps out 400 hp at 6,400 rpm and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque between 1,600 and 5,600 rpm. The engine is capable of much more than this, so much so that AMS Performance recently lifted a Z to 452 hp and 523 lb-ft (709 Nm) at the rear wheels with nothing more than a tune, an aftermarket exhaust, and high octane race fuel.
