How Does The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm Compare To The Jaguar XE SV Project 8?

Reviews

The Alfa Romeo Giulia has long been one of the best sports sedans on the market since it was launched and with the new GTAm variant, the Italian four-door model has been made even more extraordinary. Harry Metcalfe recently had the chance to check it out.

Alfa Romeo’s engineers first focused on the Giulia’s engine and for the hardcore GTA and GTAm versions, tweaked the 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 to muster up 532 hp, 30 hp more than the standard model. A serious amount of work has then been done on stripping away excess weight and improving the car’s aerodynamic performance.

Among the upgrades made include the fitment of a larger carbon fiber front splitter and a carbon rear wing. The Giulia GTAm also rocks a carbon fiber hood, roof, front bumper, front wheel arches, and rear-wheel arch inserts. It is also equipped with a lightweight Akrapovic exhaust system.

Metcalfe was the perfect man to test the Giulia GTAm as he happens to own another insane, limited-run sports sedan, namely the Jaguar XE SV Project 8.

After jumping behind the wheel of the car, Metcalfe is immediately impressed with just how usable the car feels and is complimentary of the transmission, noting that it shifts through the gears almost as fast as some of the best dual-clutch systems on the market. However, he does say the car is prone to tramlining and catching cambers on the road.
