Back in May, Cupra unveiled its new Born all-electric hatchback and Autogefühl recently had the opportunity to put it through its paces.
The Cupra Born is based on the same MEB platform as the VW ID.3 and shares most of its components with the German EV. However, it does look quite different, thanks to the unique front and rear fascias that give it a much sportier and more dynamic design.

A plethora of the Born’s interior components are also borrowed from the ID.3 but it does feature enough distinctive parts to make it unique. The reviewer isn’t a fan of some of the interior features, however, such as the touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel. He also mentions that while the Born has a 12-inch infotainment screen compared to the 10-inch display of the ID.3, the software is still somewhat lackluster and is not as responsive as it should be.
The example featured in this review is the flagship model equipped with a 58 kWh battery pack and a 228 hp e-Boost electric motor driving the rear wheels. The hatch can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds and has a 260-mile (418 km) range.
While out on the open road, the reviewer expresses his surprise as to how sporty the hatchback feels. He adds that it is also quite playful when the ESC is in its Sport setting.
