Is This Wrecked 2005 Ford GT A Bargain Or A Money Pit?

Five weeks ago, a video was shared to Instagram showing a white and blue Ford GT resting on a small brick wall after it crashed somewhere in the United States. Fast forward to October and that very same car has appeared up for auction on Copart.

The cause of the crash that left the GT with extensive damage remains unknown but there’s a good chance it simply involved a driver who couldn’t handle all of the power from the 5.4-liter supercharged V8. It appears to have slid up a curb, crossed a sidewalk, and then smashed into the wall, coming to a rest in a small flower bed.

The listing on Copart claims that the car had a pre-accident value of $418,483 and that it now has a salvage title in New York. While no one likes to see a salvaged Ford GT like this, there’s a good chance the car will be repairable but it just might cost a lot to bring it back to its former glory.

Most of the damage appears to be limited to the driver’s side door which has been caved in, likely after taking the brunt of the impact with the wall. The two wheels on the driver’s side also appear to have been damaged in the crash and we’re sure there are also some scrapes across the undercarriage. Given that most of the damage appears to be visual, there’s a good chance the engine still runs and that someone may decide to give it a second lease on life.

A second 2005 Ford GT is also available through Copart. This Hennessey-tuned model is located in Seaford, Delaware, and also has a salvage title after suffering significant damage to both sides and its rear end. Details about the crash it was involved in aren’t known but the fact that one of the wheels and hubs was ripped clean off suggests it was more severe than the one involving the white and blue model.
