Lithia buys Honda dealership in San Antonio

News

Lithia Motors Inc. continued its summer acquisition spree with the purchase of a Honda store in Texas.

The auto retail giant on Monday bought Hill Country Honda in San Antonio from Rene Isip, Lithia Vice President of Strategic Operations Tom Dobry confirmed to Automotive News in an email.

It marks Lithia’s first dealership in San Antonio, Dobry noted. The dealership’s name will not change.

In August and September of 2020, Lithia bought a total of 10 dealerships from John Eagle Dealerships in Dallas, Austin and Houston. Isip was a partner in those stores, Dobry noted.

The San Antonio acquisition was Lithia’s first since it bought a Ford dealership in suburban Atlanta in June, Dobry confirmed. Lithia also bought a majority of Priority Auto Group in Virginia earlier that month adding 14 stores.

Lithia also sold three dealerships, including one of the Priority Auto stores, in June.

Texas, in Lithia’s South Central region, has become a focus area for the growing auto retailer in recent years. Lithia’s most recent Texas acquisition was in November when it bought a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram store in Fort Worth.

Lithia, of Medford, Ore., ranks No. 1 on Automotive Newslist of the top 150 dealership groups, retailing 271,596 new vehicles in 2022. Lithia’s sales figures include dealerships outside the U.S.
