The driver of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S first rear-ended a Hyundai being slamming head-first into the SL 55

- The total value of the two desirable Mercedes models exceeds $600,000 in India.
- Both the GT 63 S E Performance SL 55 were being test-driven at the time of the collision.
- All involved parties were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A pair of expensive and tremendously powerful Mercedes-AMG models have been destroyed after colliding head-on with each other in Kochi, India.
The crash occurred two months ago but images and details of it only recently resurfaced on social media. Local outlets have revealed the driver of the orange Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance is to blame for the crash and lost control of the super sedan after clipping an elevated section of an old railway track on the side of the road.

The driver then rear-ended a Hyundai Accent traveling in front of it before the driver swerved to the right and ran into a car traveling in the opposite direction. That car happened to be a Mercedes-Benz SL 55 that, like the GT 63 S E Performance, was on a test drive from the same Mercedes dealership. Fortunately, no one was killed, and all those involved in the crash were taken to the hospital for treatment, according to Kaumudi Online reports.
Both Mercedes models have suffered extensive damage and will likely be heading straight to a scrapyard. Much of the GT 63’s front fascia has been ripped off in the collision, including the wheel on the driver’s side and all the associated brake and suspension components. It’s a wreck and will likely never return to the roads.
Sadly, the SL 55 has also been trashed in the crash. Most of the damage is limited to the passenger side of the droptop, and like the GT 63, the front wheel has been ripped off. The bonnet, front bumper, and one of the headlights have been ruined. The passenger-side door has also been torn from the car.
The Mercedes-Benz SL 55 and GT 63 S E Performance are much more expensive in India than in many other countries, including the US. In fact, the SL 55 is valued at 24.4 million Indian Rupee, or the equivalent of ~$290,000. The GT 63 S E Performance has a local starting price of 31 million Indian Rupee or ~$368,000 at current exchange rates.
