A brazen thief in Roseland, New Jersey has stolen a BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe from right under the owner’s nose while they were filling up the tires with air at an Exxon gas station.
The incident occurred on January 4 and security cameras at the station captured the entire thing. Initially, the driver of the dark grey 8-Series GC can be seen bending down behind the hood while filling up the front passenger-side tire with air. While this is happening, a thief can be seen exiting an orange BMW 3-Series in the background and running towards the luxury sports sedan.
Despite being just feet away from the owner, the thief gets inside the car without the owner noticing a thing. A few seconds later, the thief puts the BMW into gear and starts to reverse. While the owner tries to stop the perpetrator, there is nothing they can do and the thief ends up speeding away in the car, following the 3-Series driven by their accomplice.

The ease at which the perpetrator was able to steal the Bimmer is the most incredible thing. It appears as though the owner was completely unaware of what was happening and was solely focused on filling the tire with air. It is unclear if he had left the driver’s door open but it seems apparent he either left the car running or left the key fob inside it, allowing the thief to get away as easily as they did.

Here’s hoping that local police are investigating the theft but even if they are, there’s a chance the perpetrators will remove the license plates and perhaps even strip down the car or sell it before authorities can track them down.
