Nissan Australia Introduces Pet Accessories To Make Road Trips With Dogs Easier

Traveling with a dog is great but it can remind you that vehicles are primarily designed for their human occupants. Nissan Australia has introduced a series of accessories specifically designed to make dogs more comfortable in the Qashqai, X-Trail, and Patrol.

The Dog Pack includes a rear protection tray (or a mat depending on the vehicle), a reflective trunk lip protector, an over-seat cargo organizer, an all-terrain dog bed, and a four-piece dog travel set that includes an easy-store dog bowl, a leash, a poop bag holder, and a sealable food bag.

You can also opt for a ramp that extends to 1.6 meters (5.2 feet) in length to make entry and exit easier for dogs. That may be important for more than just small and old dogs as a recent study from the U.K. found that dogs jumping in and out of SUVs leads to “augmented levels of loading on anatomical structures” that could cause serious joint or bone injury.

The package can also include a sturdy cargo barrier to keep adventurous dogs out of the cabin and away from important vehicle controls.

“For so many of us, our pets are like a member of the family, and now it’s easier than ever to bring your dog along with you on your next road trip, whether to the local park or to the other side of the country,” says Nissan Australia managing director, Adam Paterson. “The Nissan Dog Pack puts your furry friend front and center, with ramps, comfortable beds, travel bowls for food and water, and new ways to organize your cargo area. Both you and your pet will love our new accessories.”

The Dog Packs are offered for small and large dogs, with prices ranging from AU$339 to AU$1,215 ($245-$879 USD at current exchange rates).
