<br /> Ouch! Semi Truck Rips Parked Tesla Cybertruck | Carscoops

A semi driver accidentally backed into a Cybertruck and damaged it further while trying to extricate itself from the situation

  • A semi truck backed into a Tesla Cybertruck parked at a loading dock.
  • The damage created upon inital impact was made far worse when the truck drove away.
  • The owner says he’ll document the repair process which includes several parts.

The Cybertruck might be tough but it’s no match for a loaded semi truck trailer. That’s what one Tesla owner found out the hard way after an unfortunate accident at a loading dock. The semi-driver backed into the Cybertruck but then damaged it even more when pulling away.

The owner, known as Jimmy, has been parking in this space to charge his car for about 10 years. He recently received his new Cybertruck just over a week ago. When the semi-driver backed into the loading dock, they did so at an incorrect angle and struck the Tesla. Photos reveal that the semi missed the correct dock by several feet.

Video from the onboard cameras in the Cybertruck showed the moment when the semi pushed it several inches to the side. According to Jimmy, it wedged the Cybertruck up against the loading dock in a way that made driving the Tesla away impossible.

“People are asking why we didn’t pull out the cybertruck, we couldn’t,” Jimmy said. It was pinned to the back wall, and the semi was pressed up against the front edge of the rear door. Doing so would have ripped off the rear door, if we could even get it to budge,” he added.

The only way to free the Cybertruck was to first drive the semi-trailer away. However, this maneuver resulted in significantly more damage, all of which was captured on camera by the Tesla owner. The windshield, passenger-side window, and three-quarter window were all shattered, while the front passenger fender cover was ripped off.

The trailer’s movement also caused the front wheels to turn, potentially causing additional damage.

Amazingly, the steel body panels look pretty good considering the interaction. The rear bumper is damaged and the steel near the tailgate is bent quite badly. The wing mirror was completely snapped off. How quickly can Tesla get all of these parts to repair this specific pickup? It appears that we’re going to get a front-row seat to that information.

Jimmy promises to document the repair journey as it takes place. That will include work to all of the components mentioned above and perhaps others that aren’t visibly damaged. There’s no telling how long it takes or how much it’ll cost but we imagine that neither figure is small.
