Owner Drops Brand New Car From Dealership’s First Floor During Delivery

Offbeat

Taking delivery of a new car is a very exciting time for anyone but for the new Indian owner of a Tata Tiago, that excitement quickly turned into dismay.

CCTV footage from inside the Tata dealership in Hyderabad, India shows the grey Tiago sitting on the first floor of the dealership. It is reported that the new owner was behind the wheel of the car while a salesman was standing next to the driver’s door explaining some of the vehicle’s key features.

Telangana Today reports that the driver then put the hatchback into Drive and hit the accelerator. The dealership had opened up the glass doors and were going to drive the Tata out onto an hydraulic ramp where it would be then lowered down to ground level. Instead, the driver’s decision to put the car in gear and accelerate saw it speed through the open door and across the ramp before falling to the pavement below.

While we don’t have any images that show the damage sustained to the Tata Tiago after the incident, local media reports that the driver and a pedestrian were both injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.

It seems extremely unlikely that the owner drove out of the dealership intentionally. Instead, it would seem more likely that they hit the accelerator, freaked out and didn’t think to apply the brakes. Whatever the case might be, we hope everyone makes a speedy recovery.
