Prepping For Doomsday? This Faraday Cage Tent Protects Your Cybertruck From EMPs

Elon Musk has described the Tesla Cybertruck as the ultimate vehicle to survive the apocalypse. While we thought that was just him having some fun, some people, like the team at Mission Darkness, are taking the claim very seriously, and have developed a car cover to protect the truck in certain doomsday scenarios.

The company has released the Cybercylent Faraday Car Cover, which is a tent made of a conductive material that shelters objects within it from surges of electromagnetic energy or radio frequency signal intrusions. This one has been made specifically to fit around the Tesla Cybertruck.

Mission Darkness claims that the Cybercylent will protect the electric vehicle from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which can knock out electronics. Such pulses can be caused by natural phenomena, like solar flares, as well as man-made phenomena, like nuclear bombs.

Somewhat inconveniently, the cover may also “protect” your Cybertruck from other signals, such as over-the-air updates from Tesla. That’s because the company’s TitanRF Faraday Fabric blocks Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wireless signals, in addition to EMP pulses. We have reached out to the company for more information.

Also worth considering is that the fabric is made of a “copper and nickel composition.” That may explain why Mission Darkness warns that Cybercylent Faraday Car Cover should only be used “within a dry, indoor environment.”

When it’s up, the Cybercylent looks a bit like a shipping container, though its sides are made of fabric. The tent poles are made of carbon fiber and its connectors are made of aluminum to ensure they are light and strong.

Mission Darkness says that its products have been used by military agencies, such as the U.S. Army and Air Force. The company also makes smaller bags that it says offer EMP protection to your smaller electronics.
