  • The driver of the mid-engined supercar appeared to be showing off to a group of spectators.
  • Even from the video, it’s clear that the R8 was going way too fast.
  • As such, the crash with the sedan was unavoidable, but thankfully no one got hurt.

The moment an Audi R8 driver slammed into the rear of an innocent motorist has been captured on camera in the UK.

The crash happened earlier this month. Footage shared on social media shows the driver traveling well above the speed limit on a small, suburban road. The driver speeds past traffic islands and a handful of spectators on the side of the road, showing blatant disregard for every other road user, putting their life and those around them in danger.

Moments after the R8 passed the group of spectators, a silver sedan pulled out in front, presumably because the driver didn’t see the Audi quickly approaching them. The driver of the Audi slammed on the brakes and swerved to the right but couldn’t avoid rear-ending the sedan. The force of the impact lifted the sedan off the ground and spun it around 180 degrees.

A photo captured by Andrew Griffiths after the crash shows the aftermath of the collision. The R8, upgraded with an exposed carbon fiber body, has been wrecked. Most of the damage is centered around the passenger-side corner of the fascia.

The headlight has been torn out of position, part of the bumper has been ripped off, and the hood and front quarter panel have been damaged. The windshield also appears to have been cracked.

Taking into account the speed at which the impact occurred, it’s surprising that more damage wasn’t done to the mid-engined supercar. Evidently, the strong carbon fiber parts prevented it from crumpling as most cars would in this situation. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the crash.
