  • Two suspects in a stolen Ford Escape triggered chaos, wrecking vehicles and evading police.
  • Authorities attempted to break the side windows of the stolen vehicle to no avail.
  • The suspects were eventually caught after crashing into a responding police cruiser.

What began as a car theft quickly spiraled into a high-speed pursuit across the Bronx on Friday. Two suspects, in a stolen 2013 Ford Escape, turned their getaway into a reckless series of collisions as they attempted to evade authorities, leaving a trail of wrecked vehicles behind.

The incident unfolded when a 25-year-old man reported to police that his Ford Escape had been stolen. Not long after, NYPD officers spotted the stolen Ford on the move, but the occupants refused to stop and, instead, tried to flee.

A video captured from the scene and shared on X by user NY_Scoop shows the driver of a silver Escape attempting to cut through traffic while being chased by several police officers on foot. The driver then slams into multiple cars, and one officer can be seen repeatedly striking the front passenger window with a baton. Despite the officer’s efforts, the suspect floors the throttle again in an attempt to escape, only to slam into one of the Ford Explorer police cruisers responding to the incident.

As seen in the dramatic footage, officers eventually swarmed the car, pulling open the doors and hauling the suspects from the vehicle. Their efforts marked the end of a reckless attempt at escape.

A Lengthy List of Charges

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, faces a laundry list of charges, including assault on a police officer, grand larceny, reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, and numerous other offenses. Her passenger, a 33-year-old man, may not have been behind the wheel, but he too is in deep trouble, facing charges of assault and reckless endangerment, among others. Suffice it to say, their attempt at a getaway has ended in more than just a few smashed cars.
