Tesla FSD one-month free trial offered with new vehicle purchases

Tesla is offering a one-month free trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD) for new vehicle purchases. Elon Musk extended the offer to existing Tesla owners, too.

The company has already updated its configurator page for the Tesla Model Y, Model X, and Model S. The Order Page for Model 3 does not state that new buyers will receive a one-month free trial of FSD.

Elon Musk followed up on the FSD free trial update with an announcement on X saying: “All US cars that are capable of FSD will be enabled for a one-month trial this week.”

Musk’s announcement means that even existing Tesla owners who haven’t purchased FSD will be able to try it out for a month. As of this writing, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving capability costs $12,000.

Tesla’s one-month free trial period of FSD hints that the company has significantly improved its autonomous software. Tesla is also taking precautions with version 12 of FSD. In a leaked email, Elon Musk updated Tesla’s delivery process, requiring employees to provide FSD V12.3.1 rides to new customers taking delivery

Tesla’s recent moves to promote FSD V12 tease its capabilities and the company’s push toward autonomous vehicles. In a recent interview, CATL Chairman Robin Zeng discussed the Chinese battery supplier’s collaboration with Tesla.

Zeng mentioned Tesla’s $25,000 car and its batteries, teasing possible cell development for its robotaxi fleet. CATL will supply battery machinery for Tesla’s Giga Nevada expansion. Tesla plans to build two new facilities at Giga Nevada, one of which will be a dedicated 4680 production line.

Tesla FSD will be a pivotal component in the company’s next-generation vehicles, like the $25,000 car. By introducing FSD to more customers, Tesla may be laying the groundwork for future vehicles.
