Tesla Model X Transformed Into Back To The Future Machine Inspired By The DeLorean | Carscoops
Thanks to its “falcon doors,” the TMC-12X makes a fine stand-in for the DMC DeLorean in modern interpretations of the Back To The Future time machine

It was inevitable, really. As soon as Tesla endowed the Model X with “falcon doors,” it was only a matter of time before someone turned it into a clone of the gullwing-doored DMC DeLorean. And from there, it’s such a short jump to the time machine from Back to the Future that I’m surprised we don’t see this more often.
But here we are, and even though it’s a bit contrived and not that original, I can’t say that I hate the result. I would go so far as to call this custom-wrapped, modified movie-car-inspired SUV “fun.”
The build process of the vehicle that’s nicknamed the TCM-12X has been laid out in a number of Facebook posts from the page ‘Home of Nemesis, Madcat and more‘ as well as on TikTok videos, in which you can watch things like the wrap going on. Although it doesn’t quite match the shininess of the stainless steel car, it does a good job conveying the idea of the DeLorean.

In addition, the taillights have been taped over to make them look more like the DeLorean’s (as well as a little more like a Hyundai’s). They are also conjoined by a strip of black, to really convey the car’s rear end.
There are also a number of little Easter eggs, such as the “TMC” badges at the front and rear, that replace the “DMC” badge that graced the DeLorean. Meanwhile, the tailgate has a badge proudly pronouncing that the SUV is powered by a flux capacitor, a reference to the technobabble explanation for the time traveling device used in the film.

Perhaps the most successful part of the design is the wheels, in my opinion. While they do make the Model X look more like a DeLorean, they also look really good on the SUV, allusions notwithstanding.
Although one of the Facebook posts has a photo of a modified Model X with the full time machine on top, it’s unclear if this example will affix those add-ons to it. While I can understand feeling like you’ve gone this far, so you might as well make the Model X more movie accurate, I think the Model X looks better without add-ons.
What do you think? Should the owners of this Tesla add the time machine props, or just leave it as is? Let us know in the comments.
