Sometimes people get too brave behind the wheel, overestimating the abilities of their car. This was the case with a driver of a small truck in South Korea who thought he could take on a 45-degree slope under a bridge.
The incident was caught on camera and naturally, it ended up on the r/IdiotsinCars thread on Reddit. The extreme slope was clearly not designed for driving, and even though an off-road-tuned Suzuki Jimny with an experienced driver would likely make it, we wouldn’t really take the risk, to be honest.

At first, the LCV seems like it is handling it, with the driver approaching the slope in an angle so he doesn’t damage the underpinnings. The vehicle appears to be a van-based truck like the Daihatsu Hijet, Suzuki Carry, Honda Acty, Hyundai Porter, or Mazda Bongo with a double cab. While the ground clearance is more than adequate, the cabover design means that the front overhang is quite long and this is eventually the optimistic driver’s undoing.
As the front wheel touches the tarmac, the driver quickly realizes that the approach angle of the vehicle is not sufficient for this type of stunt. The bumper hits the ground and he gets stuck in an awkward position. Judging from the slope and the weight balance of the vehicle, it seems almost impossible to reverse so the driver likely called a crane to help him recover the vehicle. Thankfully he didn’t crash into the other vehicles that were parked on the side of the road and no one was injured in this incident.
