Toyota Corolla Launches Off Culvert Into Second Story Of House In Crash That May Have Been Intentional

The driver of a Toyota Corolla in Decatur Township, Pennsylvania, was taken to hospital after being involved in a spectacular crash on Sunday, August 6. Although some details surrounding the accident remain a matter of speculation, the car ended up in the second story of a house.

Unfortunately, the condition of the driver is unknown at this time, but they were out of the vehicle when first responders arrived to the scene. Meanwhile, the home’s owners were evaluated by emergency services, but they were not taken to hospital.

As to how the car wound up in the home, leaving a massive hole in the side of it, some questions remain. However, the Junction Fire Company believes that the Corolla hit a small culvert next to the house’s driveway, launching it into the air, and into what appears to have been a bedroom. Oddly, the accident didn’t occur in the middle of the night, but, instead, at 3:15 p.m.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers said that it was “determined through an investigation that the crash was an intentional act,” per ABC27. Just why someone would choose to do that is not explained, but they added that their investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending at this time.

As for the home, working with the Parsons towing, rescue crews managed to remove the Corolla from it, leaving a sizeable hole in the side of the house, just above the front porch.

Fire crews managed to stabilize the house, and, since there was a storm rolling in, put a tarp up to help limit further damage to the interior. Meanwhile, the Corolla suffered significant damage all over. While it appears to be a write-off, the damage to the house will also be the cause of some concern to insurers, no doubt.
