The “glass wheels” are most likely made of acrylic or polycarbonate in order to avoid shattering

In the age of social media, where outrageous antics and bizarre challenges reign supreme, even the automotive world is not immune to the pursuit of viral fame. Brace yourself for the spectacle of a Toyota Supra Mk4 gliding on transparent, glass-like wheels, defying reason and leaving minds boggled. It’s a bold declaration that screams, “I don’t need practicality or common sense, I just need the internet’s attention and a standing appointment with my chiropractor.”
The precarious thought of a bottom-scraping accident lingered in our minds as we watched the video unfold. After all, this challenge was designed to feed the viewer’s curiosity on whether the thin transparent discs will shatter under the weight of the Supra. Thankfully, none of this happened, and the sought-after sportscar is safe from harm – at least until its owner has another crazy and risky idea.

The video was shared on TikTok by user @rota.do.caos and went viral on Reddit. And while the custom shoes of the Supra are described as “glass wheels”, the material is likely acrylic or polycarbonate – an exceptionally durable and transparent type of plastic. If genuine glass were employed, the fragile discs would have probably shattered during the lug nut installation and collapsed when the Supra hit the ground.
Unsurprisingly, the Toyota struggles to find traction even at a low speeds, doing a slow-motion burnout every time the driver touches the throttle. The absence of tires and the minimal thickness of the wheels leave the Supra feeling akin to an ice skater, rendering steering and braking virtually ineffective. As noted by a commenter, if the drive was filmed in a different kind of terrain, the thin discs would have likely carved trenches due to the concentrated weight of the vehicle on such a small surface area.
Videos like this may appear trivial at first glance, but they often excel at generating views and sparking discussions. In this regard, the Toyota Supra featuring transparent wheels certainly served its purpose – now please take them off!
