The Ami rolled into its side, slamming into a set of steel poles on the side of the road

The Citroen Ami is one of the cutest, pint-sized city cars currently on sale. It is well-suited to life in busy cities with narrow streets and has gone on to spawn a host of different variants. One thing the Ami isn’t, however, is a sports car and the driver of this particular example recently discovered that the hard way.
This video recently surfaced on social media and was filmed right in the heart of Monte Carlo at one of the Principality’s most famous corners, the Grand Hotel hairpin. This corner is tight and just so happens to be the slowest corner on the Formula 1 calendar.
While driving up towards the corner, likely while pinning the throttle, the driver of the tiny Citroen aggressively steers the car to the right and impressively, it makes it around the turn with quite a lot of speed. The video then cuts to the Ami approaching the corner once again, albeit this time coming downhill, the same direction used in the Monaco Grand Prix.

This time, the driver carried too much speed into the corner but rather than understeering like you may expect, the car actually tips onto two wheels and then rolls onto its side, slamming into a set of steel poles on the side of the road before grinding to a halt. Had the poles not been there to stop the car, it likely would have hit at least one pedestrian.
It is unclear if the driver of the Citroen was injured in the crash but we’re sure they were left a little embarrassed at what unfolded.

As a reminder, the Ami is powered by an electric motor pumping out 8 hp and rocks a tiny 5.5 kWh battery pack. It has a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h) and weighs just 485 kg (1,069 lbs).
