Watch A Car Hauler Stuck On The Tracks Get Destroyed By Train In Texas

Offbeat

The town of Schertz, Texas, suffered a pretty major inconvenience yesterday after a car hauler got beached at a railroad crossing. Unfortunately, the truck got stuck just as a train was coming, which ended up T-boning the truck’s trailer.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, which happened just before 2:00 p.m., according to KSAT.com. The truck was struck at the crossing at Farm-to-Market 78 and 1st, but, because the train was stopped on the tracks, it also blocked FM78 at Randolph Avenue.

According to the description of a video featuring security camera footage of the accident, the road that the accident occurred on is prohibited to trucks. Although we haven’t independently verified that claim, it would seem to be a reasonable precaution given the undulation of the road at the railroad crossing. It seems inevitable that other car haulers could also become beached at this intersection if they were free to go down the road.

Video of the truck approaching the crossing shows that its trailer was nearly empty, with just one vehicle onboard that appears to have been a BMW i3. Although it was very close to the point at which the train struck the trailer, another video of the aftermath of the incident shows it in surprisingly good condition. That said, it’s likely that any closer inspection would reveal significant damage.

First responders were on the scene of the accident pretty quickly and, by 4:44, the train had been moved away from all intersections. It wasn’t until close to 8:00 pm, though, that some of the roads surrounding the incident were reopened.
