We recently took a spin in the 2024 Corvette E-Ray (read our full review here) and asked our readers if they had any questions for us. While you can read our full review here, below are the answers to a handful of questions.
Rick wanted to know how warm does the frunk get?

After about an hour and a half of driving, neither the frunk or trunk were hot. They were on the warm side, as it was around 90° F (32° C), but nothing overly remarkable.
BeerThirty247 wanted to know how many miles the E-Ray can travel on electricity alone?
Since the E-Ray isn’t a plug-in hybrid and may not always have a fully charged battery, the range varies but Chevrolet says owners can expect to travel up to 3 or 4 miles (4.8 to 6.4 km).
After some trial and error, I got up to around 2.5 miles (4 km) on electricity alone, however you really have to put in some effort to stay in EV-only mode on suburban streets. Besides the 45 mph (72 km/h) speed limit, the engine will kick on if “additional torque is requested by the driver.” On one test, I was at a stop light outside my neighborhood and when it turned green, even some modest acceleration was enough to command the V8 engine to roar to life.
It’s also worth mentioning the climate control system doesn’t operate in Stealth Mode. This can make it unpleasant if it’s hot outside and your car has been sitting in the sun all day.
Brent wanted to know how noticeable the engine is when kicking in from stealth mode?

It’s not too crazy or loud, although it can catch you off guard if you’re not expecting it.
I actually had a more surprising experience with the engine start/stop system as the V8 went silent and then loudly roared back to life unexpectedly. I was at a stop light at the time and the car next to me could have easily misinterpreted the situation.
eb110americana wanted to know if we felt the added weight of the battery and electric motor?

No, the weight doesn’t really jump out at you, but it might if you drove the various Corvettes back-to-back or took it to the track. The E-Ray is unsurprisingly the heaviest of the three models as the coupe tips the scales at 3,774 lbs (1,712 kg). That makes it 274 lbs (124 kg) heavier than the Z06, which is its closest counterpart as the two models have similar outputs and a widebody design.
If you want to throw the standard Stingray into the mix, that weighs a mere 3,366 lbs (1,530 kg). Of course, the E-Ray is 3.6 inches (91 mm) wider than the entry-level model.
Six_Tymes wanted to know Z06 or E-Ray?

That’s the million dollar question and one that doesn’t have an easy answer. However, I think it really comes down to whether you want rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The E-Ray is fantastic, but it might be a little too controlled and predictable for some people. As a result, if you like to get sideways and have fun, the Z06 might be more up your alley.
